User's rights and responsibilities At first it's good to know a few things. First of all, R.T.F.R-the game is so called "Freeware". This means, that you are allowed to copy it freely, and no kind of fee is asked. In fact, more the players R.T.F.R has achieved, the more satisfied we are. So by spreading the game you're doing us a big favour. Anyway, the game is protected by the copyright-laws, which means that you're not allowed to spread versions, that are modified or lack parts of the original game. Another important thing is, that you play the game with your own responsibility. R.T.F.R has been tested with machines that vary in composition with good results, but if it for some strange reason causes damage to your machine/you/your surrounding, we are not responsible to compensate your loss. 2. Radiation Threat From Russia Our meaning isn't in anyway to annoy russians, or Russia. After I heard the name, I thought it'd be perfect for the game. 2.1 Background and how-to-play You're sitting alone in a dark room in the middle of the dark winter of Siberia. You are left in charge of security of the nuclear plant. In the computer in front of you there are only four buttons to press. You are sweating so strong, that there's a miniature lake on the stone floor beneath your chair. The lights of the computer are beginning to ignite rapidly. You are told to press the right coloured button after it ignites. You can only guess what happens if you press the wrong button... Naturally, it's almost impossible to save the nuclear plant. At the end, the lights blink about 18 times in a second. Because of this fact, we hope you concentrate on making new records. The RTFR.EXE starts the game, but we advise you to run SETUP.EXE at first, in order to configure your sound card probably. 2.2 Requirements R.T.F.R doesn't take too much. Your processor must be at least a 286, and your screen must be able to show VGA-level graphics. If you want to enjoy sound effects during the game, you of course must have a functional sound card. With Midas Sound System most of the popular sound cards are supported. Your OS should be MS-DOS, or an OS that can emulate MS-DOS (I had enourmous problems trying to make the audio work under Windows 95). You should have at least 300k base memory free, and if you want to enjoy the audio, load an EMS-driver and make sure you have a bit of XMS free. (!NOTE! IF YOU DON'T WANT TO HEAR THE AUDIO FEEL FREE TO DELETE THE SONG.* AND SND.* -FILES IN ORDER TO SAVE SOME DISK SPACE) 2.3 Credits * Code * Sampo Yrjanainen (Nature Boy) * Graphics and music * Sampo Toyssy (Zmortal) and for the startup sample: Lauri Hellevuo (N0hd) * Midas Sound System * Petteri Kangaslampi Jarno Paananen * Beta testers * Santeri Pakkanen (Einstein) Sami Ylismaki (Fishu) * Special thanks go to * Joni Leiponen (Diper) Oskari Lindman (Grand) 3.
